In June 2018, Therme Group unveiled its partnership with the Sibiu International Theatre Festival––the most important annual festival of performing arts in Romania, bringing together world-leading artists from more than 70 countries over ten days.

The occasion was marked with a Therme Forum bringing together esteemed architects, designers, artists, and arts leaders in a dialogue about the relationship between theatrical arts and their buildings, and how this relationship is affected by, and impacts community.

For a second consecutive year, Therme Group partnered with the Sibiu International Theatre Festival in 2019 to host a series of discussions in preparation for the development, design, and construction of a new building for the Radu Stanca National Theatre in Sibiu. Building on the 2019 Festival’s theme of The Art of Giving, the Therme Forum explored ways in which the physical and virtual public experience around theatre shapes our communities, impacts the performing arts and influences the resilience/sustainability of our organisations.

Continuing its ongoing support of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, Therme Group commissioned Romanian architecture firm Manadelucru to design a pavilion for the 2019 event. Realised within the historical premises of Piața Mică 22, the project focused the unexplored potential of urban areas, connecting the three courtyards of the space which served as a venue for the celebratory dinner organised on 21 June, 2019.
