Therme Forum: Free Future Cities on 26 September marked the launch of Therme Group’s partnership with the British Council through Therme Art. The event was presented on 26 September during the 16th Venice Architecture Biennale, using the Biennale exhibition concept of ‘Freespace’ as a point of departure for the programme.
The panel discussion took place at the British Pavilion within their Island programme, featuring leading voices in art, architecture, and science to discuss the future of architecture and city planning. Panelists analysed how a free and common environment can liberate the mind and body; how the idea of ‘Freespace’ can be created through innovation in art and architecture; and how aiming for a ‘Freefuture’ will help us to reconsider architecture and city planning. The British Pavilion’s Island, conceived by Caruso St John Architects with artist Marcus Taylor, also responded to the Biennale’s exhibition theme of Freespace and is “intended as a platform for a new and optimistic beginning,” providing further context to the panel discussion topic of future cities.
